Push Me

Welcome to the home of Football Club 77, a men's  soccer club devoted to the enjoyment of soccer.  FC77 was formed in 1977 in Portland Oregon. Over 39 years later this miscellaneous collection of soccer buffs has grown into six teams.

Our purpose: Playing and supporting the sport of soccer and good fellowship. Our six teams span Over 30 through Over 58 age divisions and a wide range of play from the serious, to the ridiculous.  On these pages you'll find separate team pages, schedules, game reviews, other soccer links, information if you're interested in trying out for a team and our newsletter.  Explore and if you enjoy soccer, you're among friends.

FC77 Originals Xmas

Tis The Season...

December 13, 2017.   An unofficial, end-of-year note from the Club President, David Porter:

"FC77 Board—The Board met as it does about four times annually. The Club is solvent and able to support team registrations and to provide jerseys again in about 4 years. We have money for the Athletic Cup and for the legal filings and related incidental fees.
Your club president—me—is asking all of you to consider whether you’d be willing to step into a role on the board to keep FC77 a healthy and active organization fielding men’s soccer teams in the future. Mike Calder, Mark Dillon and I have been the shepherds for the club along with a group of longtime players and the team managers. I have made the point to the board that we need to recruit some new, active leaders who believe in the FC77 mission.
I will be retiring from work in about 2 years—and will be looking for new folks to step in to keep the Club as strong as it is now. I’m not stepping away from my role as team manager unless someone pries the soccer ball from my cold dead fingers, but the board needs new leadership.

Just sayin’! "

2017 Athletic Cup

July 23, 2017.   Once again the Cup gathering of the Club faithful was held on July 22nd. Montessori School field in far SE Portland was the site. The weather was the usual roasting hot cooker it always is.  The crowd demographic ranged from seven to seventy. Casual soccer, food and drink were on tap.

This was the 40th year of teams that now comprise the FC77 club. In honor of this longevity, a commorative logo was chosen from a impressive number of submissions. This logo will appear on all new Club uniform shirts.

Old Nicks team manager David Porter writes a soccer blog titled: It's My Sodden Pitch. New entries all the time.  Give it a read.

"We’re the one percenters, man — the ones who don’t fit and don’t care. So don’t talk to me about your field fees and your red cards — I mean you get your woman and your bike and your screw-ins and I mean you're on your way.

We’ve punched our way out of a hundred rumbles, stayed alive with our boots and our fists. We’re royalty among soccer clubs, baby."
